G Suite for Education - free for schools and colleges. G Suite is a collection of applications that inspire real-time collaboration among users. In the education space, G Suite enables teachers and students to collaborate better through a comprehensive suite of productivity tools.

Google Classroom - free for schools and colleges

Chrome devices - have the lowest total cost of ownership in the market and are built to be shared, which means they can be deployed and repurposed in a variety of different ways. Users will get automatic updates, devices with multilayer security, and unique cloud-based management.

1:1 devices: With the 1:1 model, every student receives their own Chrome device.

Shared carts: Chromebook storage carts help keep Chromebooks organized, charged, and secure so they’re always ready for students to pick up and start using.

Computer lab or loaner laptops in libraries: Students can sign in to any Chrome device in a library and have the same personalized experience as on their everyday Chrome device.

The Chrome Education Upgrade allows school IT administrators to easily manage a fleet of Chrome devices from a central console. This means that educators can configure settings and enforce policies for specific Chrome devices, control user access, customise features, configure network access, and more.

In a business setting, the ideal ratio of IT professionals to users is 1 to 70. Google knows that in a school with thousands of students, that ratio is just not possible. That’s why Google offers the Chrome Education Upgrade.

With the Chrome Education Upgrade, educators can manage a large number of Chrome devices from a simple cloud-based console for under £30 per device for the lifetime of the device. The Chrome Education Upgrade includes more than 200+ customizable policies.

One of the most compelling selling points of the Chrome Education Upgrade for educators is the ability to safely, securely, and easily administer quizzes and tests to students. The Chrome Education Upgrade allows teachers to block access to distractions like social media or the internet. This means that if students should all be taking a quiz from 9:00-9:30 AM, teachers can use kiosk mode to lock the Chrome device into that one quiz for that time frame.

When kiosk mode is deployed to students’ Chromebooks Chromebooks are automatically configured to log in to the app session chosen by the teacher, Chrome apps run full screen on Chrome OS and students cannot exit the app.

The Chrome Education Upgrade gives schools the ability to ensure privacy and security at scale across all enrolled Chromebooks

Create and collect assignments: Classroom weaves together Google Docs, Drive, and Gmail to help teachers create and collect assignments paperlessly. They can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work and provide direct, real-time feedback to individual students.

Improve class communications: Teachers can make announcements, ask questions, and comment on students’ work in real time. This helps improve communication inside and outside of class.

Stay organised: Classroom automatically creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student. Students can easily see what’s due on their Assignments page within the app.

Keep guardians informed: Teachers can share email summaries with guardians that show their student’s progress in Classroom.

Google knows that protecting students’ privacy is critical. Like the rest of the G Suite for Education services, Classroom contains no ads, never uses class content or student data for advertising purposes, and is free for schools.
